Hi Julia,
My DR felt very strongly about me going on Tamoxifen. I have been struggling for 3 months now with hot flushes, night sweats, muscle aches, constipation, moodiness, memory lapses, the list goes on. Everyone keeps saying 'perservere' but it is difficult when you just don't feel like yourself, and have trouble getting a good nights sleep with waking up during hot sweats all the time. I've gone from being constantly cold before, having my electric blanket on 2, woolen underlay, flannalette sheets, quilt and rug, plus pjs, to now needing my fan on, cotton sheets, no underlay, no electric blanket, and most of the time just a singlet, and waking up with only the top sheet on. Huge change that's for sure.
A fortnight ago I went to Adelaide and had an appointment with the adult genetics department at the WCH. Last week I had the two blood tests to be tested for BC1 and BC2, and TP53. There is quite a lot of breast cancer, ovarian cancer and lymphoma in our family history so they want to get to the bottom of it. I guess I'll have to wait for those tests to come back to decide 'where to from here?'. I still feel gutted everyday that all this has happened, and that our plans have been put on hold.
Did you take the Tamoxifen for the full five years? Did you have any complications getting pregnant, etc? Hoping to hear back :)
