BRCA1

On the 19th April 2012 my 19 year old daughter Rosie was given her result to BRCA1 positive. Our world was shattered that day because we knew there would have to be some drastic decisions made by Rosie. Rosie has inherited the gene from her fathers side of the family. Rosie has a cousin aged 23 who had her preventitive surgery this year which was a double mascetomy & reconstruction she is doing fine I'm pleased to say unlike her poor mother who was diagnosed with BC 5 years ago and had a double mascetomy but unfortunately it has spread to her lung & pancreas to which she has been operated on and responding well to treatment so please send positive thoughts her way Rosie will be having her preventive surgery in January 2013 at the age of 20 and we are told by her surgeon that she will be the youngest o have had the surgery....

I'm sure my Rosie would like a mail pal with common ground - we live in the UK not Oz but this was the only site I could find ... My cousin lives in Oz in Melbourne Gladstone park at the mo .. Thanks again, Sonia xx
