Brain Mets

Found out a couple of weeks ago that I now have some brain tumours. I have started radiation treatment and also taking dex for the swelling. Feeling much better than I was as pain and nasaue now under control and feeling hopeful that ray treatment will work well and we can control them for a long time.

  • Thanks for your support Ladies. I'm doing pretty good. Other than hair loss the side effects from ray treatment were pretty non existent. Didn't even burn at all. And now I have a really strange looking mask I am going to decorate. Now it's just wait and see what happens. A typical outcome for most of us really. Good news is my liver and bone mets are stable. Celbird, I live in Smithton, Tassie. Which is a smallish town on the north west coast. Good thing about small towns is you do get lots of support. Where are you from. Hope everyone's journey is progressing with no hiccups. Cheers

Hi Gaylene, I am sorry to hear about your brain tumours, but as you say, here's hoping the radiotherapy will work well and get things under control for many years to come! I'm glad your pain and nausea is under control ..it sounds like you are much more comfortable now.

I was diagnosed with secondary BC in October 2011, with extensive mets in lungs and then a wide spread to bones, so I do know about this extreme rollercoaster ride. Where do you live Gaylene?

    Thinking of you xxx

  • Hi Gaylene,

I'm glad to hear that you're feeling better and that the pain and nausea are now under control. As you may know, there are a number of optional booklets to the Hope & Hurdles pack for women with secondary breast cancer. One of the booklets contains information on brain mets, which you may find useful. To order a free copy, please feel free to give us a call on 1800 500 258 and we'll post it to you.
