Blood Clots - Update
Hi Everyone
Thank you for your messages of support. Means a lot when you are scared.
Story so far... Was at my Dr getting port dressing changed last Wednesday. My Dr noticed my swollen ankles I thought was another gift from chemo. I still have little cough 10 weeks on from chest infection. Chest xrays clear. Dr concerned so off to hospital I go.
After many tests and scans it has shown I have blood clots on my lungs and heart. The Doctors think the port has caused these clots as to where they are sitting. They have said this is unusual. Each treatment does come with some risks. Fucketity Fuck. I am now having needles of blood thinners that freakin sting to help me. I spent 8 nights in hospital. The care I received was excellent. I know I was in the best place with medical team looking after me. I had a 2nd heart echo scan on Monday. Scan shows clot has moved away from heart valve (thank goodness) and I was able to be released home this afternoon. I now have to have blood thinning needles twice a day for 6 months. Ooohh they sting and I am black and purple from the bruises of these needles.
Am on light duties for 6 months. Will have another heart echo scan in 4 weeks to see where things are at. I am happy to be home and grateful for your wishes of support.
Cheers
