BLAH!

After having  had 3 rounds of Doxetacel, Carboplatin and Herceptin I have found it more and more difficult  and am finding  it so hard to even  think of the  recovery  for the next 3 rounds.

I am  now having to inject Neulasta as well for Neutropenia so that gives me more joint pain. Have not been able to describe the sheer exhastion to others but  I know you ladies understand that I am to tired to even sleep! Sore mouth, sore teeth, sore scalp, fluid retention, bad nails, runny or bleeding nose, non-stop toilet trips and all the other garbage that goes with this crap really bugs me.

I had some bad times last week that kept me mostly bedbound and honestly thought I could not do this again but I  have since recovered (as we do) yet I am dreading next week for dose 4.

Just needed to vent a bit so thanks for being there,

Cheers Cheryl.

  • Oh dear you poor thing Julia, I can say I know just how you feel and I do think there is something to be said for the induced coma therapy and  I am more than happy to join you in a nice room.  I had before felt better in week 2 but now just have to lay down all the time and get exhausted moving. Seriously  do have have anyone else  to take the kids as  this is really not the time for you to be doing this, I honestly dont know how you are able to leave the house but more power to you if you can and just ask if you cant,

    Cheers Cheryl.

  • Hi,

I have had my first docetaxel last tues after doing 3 fec's and it is the pits!  I am slightly better  now a week has gone but still have huge pain around the top of spine and shoulders and I can't taste anything.  So not even food is enjoyable.

last week I think i lay down for about 5 days practically full time.  So sick of TV.  This week I am dragging myself around psychologists for children's depression!! just what I feel like...

I really don't know if I have the strength to have two more....I was saying I think I need to be put into an induced coma for each treatment.

    love to all,

    Julia

  • Thanks for the support ladies, only we know what is going on and it'sgreat to hear from you all, I am yet again in bed and trying to recover but will get by no doubt ( as we do ), going to try and get through all 6 cycles without stopping as  I dont want to not see my end date for this crap. Wishing you all the best,

    Cheers Cheryl, xoxo.

  • I had 4 rounds and it seems never ending,

but did find little treats like watching whole tv series on dvd (entourage, six feet under) helped pass the time, as I too could not do a thing for 2 of each 3 weeks, not even go food shopping as was too exhausted.

But as spring is here, and sunshine and its lovely, I was also thinking about what i will do next year, once herceptin is finished, a cruise, weekend away any kind of distraction from the "present".
And more recently have found a group of ladies, and we catch up for brunch once a month, as we are now all survivors to chat about and get/give advice, its a nice sunday morning to escape from the treatment.

    cheers B

  • Hi Cheryl, you poor thing. I know how nasty the joint pain is from neulasta, my oncologist prescribed naprosyn, which is an anti inflammatory to help with my joint pain, perhaps you could talk to your Dr about something to help...although I guess it is even MORE drugs being put into your body! I didn't want to continue after round 3, but we always find the strength in us somehow!

    Take care, Jenny xx

  • You poor darl -docetaxel is just the pits, like being roadkill from a mack truck is how I desribed it.I didn't go through with all the rounds as I ended up in hospital with neutropenia and an infection. So I think you are very brave to face up to all that. It's damn cruel and I don't know why they haven't come up with a better solution yet.Talk to your doc before dose 4 as maybe it can be altered or skipped altogether. It might be  the docetaxol that's causing the grief.Speak up cos you shouldn't have to suffer so much.
