Bit of a scare
Hi all
Thanks for stopping by....hope all is well with you.
Just thought I add a bit of an update on my health...just when I thought things were going ok...I started to get pain in my right breast at exactly the same spot as the cancer I had in my left breast.
This had been happening for 2 or 3 weeks and I felt I couldn't ignore it any longer.
Same pain, same location...hmmmm - so it was off to the doctors again. No lumps detected thank God, but definite soreness. So off for yet again another mammogram.
After that they told me to wait as they wanted to do an ultrasound....hmmm I was starting to get a bit concerned. So on went the goo (always so cold!) and after 20 mins of pressing and pushing (after being flattened by the mammogram!) the radiologist seems happy and says quietly to me "not to worry".
Relief! I get the films and check them out...no nasty spots. Phew! Still I have pain. And I'm having pain where the mastectomy was done but apparently that's the nerves healing (so I'm told)....so both sides are sore :(
On top of this I'm having terrible trouble with my tummy and (hate to say this) bowels. I'm finding anything I eat is making my tummy feel bloated and uncomfortable and affecting my bowels from one extreme to the other.
So I'm booked in for a colonoscopy and exploratory view of my stomach. Hopefully they'll be able to figure out what's going on.
I've never had an overly efficient digestive system but after 9 months of chemo it's just gone to shit!
On another, more positive note, I've finished my recipe book which I've written as a fundraiser for Box Hill Hospital's cancer ward (where I was treated). It should be published in the next month.
My big fundraising night (17 Nov) is coming together and I've now put up a Facebook page for it.
Fingers crossed I'll get lots of people attending and I can raise lots of money for the Ward.
But before that I am training with BCNA to become a Community Liaison Officer, going to the conference in Sydney, trying to settle into my new role at MS Australia and developing my own website.
So apart from my health hiccups life is pretty busy.
I hope everyone is well and keeping positive.
