biopsy of my pelvis lesion has come up with some interesting results, my original breast cancer was hormone negative, but however the results of the biopsy has determined that this new one is hormone postive, didn't know that they can change. but have done some research and this happens quite a lot. have to wait until the oncologists have their meeting to discuss the treatment. but will comence radiotheropy soon.

I now know that my cancer is exactly the same as last time. Hormone receptive. I have been told that it is unfortunate that it has returned BUT it is curable. What good news that was. I don't need to win any lotteries - I've had my lucky break. The lymp node that was affected was tucked away deep in my armpit and stuck behind a muscle. Looks like it might have been there all along just waiting for a special radiologist to find it!!!! The medical oncologist said that this will be my last chance "to get it". Thus I am having the works - radiation and chemo (6 sessions) to give myself and my family the best chance possible.XLeonie

Hi Leonie, I've just finished radiotherapy. now have been put on arimidex. started today, but up in the air about things. My oncologist said that they retested my bone biopsy and the er. levels were off the chart, they are now suspisious of there being another Primary cancer site in the breasts. Mammograms and ultra sounds have been brought forward to next week. then possibly a MRI. They also found a level of Her2 gene as well so they want to retest biopsy again, if they have enough sample remaining. if not another bone biopsy will be done. (some thing to look forwrd to) I also start one of the bisphosphonates infusion over 90 minutes nxt week every month.(don't know for how long. Just when I though every thing was on track, I'm up in the air again. not knowing whats going to happen. Trying to stay positive. Pam

Sorry you girls are dealing with this all AGAIN!!!! I too have heard of the cancers changing from hormone positve to negative and vice versa.
Once you have a treatment plan, it will not make it better but will at least give you a plan to work towards.

I am playing the waiting game as well. Waiting for the full pathology report to come back. First time around, 4 years ago, my BC was hormone receptive, had radiation and was on Tamoxifen for 3 years - now swapped over to Arimidex since diagnosis on 20-12-10. Recent diagnosis of cancer in the lymp node in my armpit is awaiting to see if it is hormone receptive or HERT2 etc. I like you would think that it would be the same!!!!! especially as it is on the same side as previous BC. It sure is a funny illness.......I suppose that;s why there is still no cure. I will know what treatment is required once I see the oncologists as well. Cheers stay positive XLeonie
