Hi Julia, congratulations on having a fantastic mum who was able to some research for you and give you clear options.
I too was not given options, I had a lumpectomy back in December with a second op to get wider margins and a sentinel node biopsy which was clear.
Out of all the medical staff I have had contact with I would have to say the breast care nurses have been the most disappointing to deal with. I have had no contact with the McGrath foundation, minimal contact with the breast care nurse at Epworth Freemasons, and one chat with the Think Pink foundation (who seemed almost reluctant to contact me).
Now that I'm doing radiotherapy at Peter Mac at Sunshine Hospital in Melbourne I almost feel smothered in attention from the social worker and to a lesser extent the other allied health staff.
