Best beauty products?

Hi ladies

I have a beauty question - what products would you recommend for your face and mastectomy scar during chemotherapy and radiation?

I'm 29 and my skin has been miserable since starting chemotherapy. It's dry, flaky, blotchy AND I'm also breaking out on my chin ( I suspect largely due to hormonal changes). I will also be starting radiation once chemotherapy finishes in April.

I bought some BioOil for my scar...however after a quick review on Google, I discovered that the oil is full of nasties, including BHT which according to David Suzuki is carcinogenic, so I don't think I'll be applying that on my chest anymore!

Any advice would be appreciated :)

  • Hi Tiffany.... I use Rosehip oil.  But I also agreed with jo.d on coconut oil (I've never try to put on body).  I did a lot of readings about the coconut oil.  It seems could do alot beside eating.

Coconut oil could be widely use from head to toe, outside to inside and it's very very good product.

Worth to try and I know it's not that oily feeling, smell very nice too.  Rosehip oil was good, but the smell not really nice have to add extra scent.  I used Rosehip oil to the breast daily with Radiotheraphy and many times E cream.

    Take care

    Rosanna

  • I am a newbie too. Just had 1st chemo 2weeks ago. Have been using moo goo as well as coconut oil (when my stupid chemo nose/taste buds allow). Someone on here recommended coconut oil as a great after radiation treatment can't comment on that yet, but it's great for the chemo dry skin so far. Do a search & there should be a link outlining all the benefits of coconut oil. I now have a jar for my skin & a jar for my kitchen cupboard. Loving it!!
  • Hi Tiffanybarbra, I have been using an oil called Busby pure Tissue oil on my scar which contains avocado, grape seed and rose hip oils, think I got it at a health food shop. I am about to start radio and will be doing the same as last time( this is a new cancer in the other side ) which is slathering my breast in aloe vera gel as soon as I get home from the radio. This worked well and a radiologist commented the other day when I was getting measured up that I didn't have any damage to the skin on that side, Good luck Angela
  • Thanks for your feedback ladies, I've ordered some MooGoo products online today and hopefully my skin will start behaving soon :) x

  • I am just a newbie at this, but so far I have tried both Bio Oil and MooGoo Mudder Udder.  I like the Moogoo best because it leaves less residue on my clothes and seems very soothing and gentle on the scar.  I also have the MooGoo moisturisers for my arms and the rest of my body.

  • Solugel is great and pMac suggested it due to some skin breakage. Just handy to have around for lots of things. Best wishes.
