Bald

I'm loving it at the moment especially at home.  My girls have got used to it and I'm almost ready to go bald full time - too bloody hot here anyway!

Judy, isn't it funny how quickly we get used to something? Bald is normal for me now. Not much else we can do but embrace it. xx

I would ask anyone in the shampoo section where the bottles of "Restore" were, to help me grow some new locks! It helps to look on the bright side, that is for sure. And it is great to be able to stay in touch with others going through similar experiences. Keep it up, girls! Cheers. Judy.

I read your blog, I was exactly the same, so sad about losing the hair, as a matter of fact I was so sad about everything, but as Tonya says, I am getting a sense of humor about things now. I think it's true, you have to or this thing will send us crazy!!!

I agree that it is a great idea to shave your head once the hair starts falling out, otherwise it is everywhere- on the pillow, clogging up the shower and all around the house! I found it very liberating and although my bald head happened over last winter, I preferred that because wearing scarves, beanies and the wig occasionally, weren't making my head too hot. So glad I am now growing some fine, soft down on my bald head, even tho it is greyer in spots, and curly too!! Embrace your baldness, luckily it is not forever.

Love your story Penny. I posted a blog only 4 days ago how I was about to shave my head because I couldn;t stand the hair loss. At the time I couldn't imagine going around without a scarf or wig and exposing my head to the world. But maybe I'm going to grow in confidence too - already I walk around at home bald, husband and daughters actually think it looks better than the bandana! Never thought I'd be able to look in the mirror but I can, so I'm looking forward to the day I'll venture out in all my bald glory!!! Might not be that far away, the wig is proving very uncomfortable and itchy.

That the sort of thing I'd do! Good on you! I too am beginning to be less shy the more I go out in public. One day I simply forgot my hat and went to the shops bald. I had a few interesting looks and a few knowing smiles. I've given up wearing scarves - it's too much hassle and too hot over here! My hair is growing back quite fast anyway but it's very different to what it was ( I had it coloured brown anyway!). My natural colour is silver now something I have to get used to. My hair is more white that silver at the moment - chemo drugs maybe. It all comes down to confidence. I discovered this yesterday at Adventure World. Even swimming in a pool and braving the tyres and mat rides took some confidence. Very strange. In most of these places you need to leave hats and sunnies in boxes so you are forced to show the bald head!! Anyway I came back exhausted! Maybe overdid it a bit!

Take care and always find time to see the lighter side of this otherwise horrible disease. It what gets me through! Be proud!

Good on you.  It does bring out the inner bold in us.  I won't put up with any "shit" anymore but on the other hand I am also prepared to debate and not "go off the handle".  My daughters also "embraced" my bald. My elder daughter made a point of taking a lovely holiday shot of me (just after chemo) of my bald head.  She has included it on "my page" of her 2012 calendar.  Enjoy your baldness - you will find that hair is quite hot when it starts regrowing.
