Back agian
here I am again and not much has changed, I am still getting the hot flushes, fatigue, joint pain, depression and now the weight gain seems uncontrollable.
I saw the oncologist who reckons its bet...
I know what you mean about the weight gain. i put on a lot of weight going through treatment and it was very depressing...it slowed me down, was uncomfortable and didn't do much for the hot sweats either! I wasn't having Herceptin at that time, but chemo. After treatment, I decided to join weight watchers online and I gradually lost about a stone which was wonderful. There is also a great site called The Calorie King that is free and you can get really nice healthy recipes, count calories etc and monitor your weight. I also went to the hospital dietitian to get some information and advice.
I have just started Herceptin (3 weeks ago) in combination with chemo for secondary BC, so I'm not sure what the side effects of Herceptin are for me, or even if it will work for me...it is too early to tell. I am hoping, like you, it will keep this disease at bay. I have lost weight since my secondary diagnosis (8 kilos in fact) due to the stress of it all I think, and have re-vamped my diet. I am hoping to keep the weight gain at bay, but I know with this being a hormonal type disease, that makes things difficult.
I'm taking Panadol Osteo at night for joint aches and pains, and this seems to be helping me....have you tried that?
Hang in there Sue....I know the weight gain is terribly depressing at times...it's awful and it's ok to feel awful about it now and then!
Take care,
