hi gay
i had my ovaries removed because i had a cyst on one of them. my oncologist told me it was important to be referred to a gynie oncologist for this proceedure .my mother died as a result of breast cancer many years ago , so when i was diagnosed i was very keen to have this proceedure done. My medical oncologist stated that the arimidex was the most important part of the treatment and is used as a preventative rather than the surgery, radiation and chemo which are only used to try and erradicate the cancer that is present. I am er positive which means my cancer is fed by eostrogen. i have been told that eostrogen is also produced in the adrenal glands which is why i still have to take an eostrogen inhibitor. ,but i am HER negative. In hindsight i think i have been given some misinformation re arimidex yes there are side effects for some people but i would rather do everything i can to reduce the possibility of the cancer returning. I have now been on arimidex for 1 week and i do get a few hot flushes and i feel a bit tired but i think the tiredness is due to the fact i have had two operations, chemotherapy and radiation in the past 5 mths. I will say i am getting less tired as the days go by. i hope this has answered your questions wishing you well regards jenny
