  • I am doing a research thing next year for health and fitness after breast cancer. If you would like to do the programme as well I am sure they would put you in. Entries close Jan 9th. I will put the link in here...if I can :)http://webmail.bigpond.com/webedge/do/mail/message/download?msgId=INBOXDELIM53171&part=2&l=en-AU&v=bigpond

If this doesn't work send me your email and I will forward the letter requesting volunteers.

  • hi robsue,

I hear you re pain/ discomfort, memory and body fatigue.

I tried.. laser, time, massage, gentle water exercises, zoloft antidepressant ( helps with PERCPTION of pain, flushes, sleep, low mood. )

After 2 weeks you should notice a difference if the tablets help with mood/ pain/ flushes. etc.

I also take livial 2.5 mgs daily.

     Talking may help also.

How tall are you? I am 5'3', approx 160 cms. I am 64 kgs. I used to be 60 kgs. I should be about 57 kgs. Do not beat yourself up over not being perfect..No one is!

It can also take time to accept the changes and adjustments after treatment for BC.

Be kind to yourself. Keep searching for answers too.

I too had some body image issues after first lumpectomy. The second one made my boobs about " level, even though one is a bit bigger and points outwards slightly. The other  has a dip on top. I still  have two nipples. i am " used " to them now.

Chronic pain, can make you depressed. I hope you see someone about it.

  • i can relate to you all. I started tamoxifen in September and already gained a few kgs! My main upset is the fatigue, I struggle to go to work every day and even as I type I have been crying as I have an internal battle with myself to get my self together and get to work! I am only doing 6 hrs a day but it's almost an hr drive to the city, plus I will be back to my full 7 and half hrs in a couple of weeks! I thought about going to see my GP but what can he do? We have to learn to live with this I guess, but i just want my old life back!

Sorry to sound so negative, just feeling down today...the burns from the radiotherapy got infected so I am on antibiotics, which isn't helping my feeling of well being!

Oh well, best get to work...got a mortgage to pay,

    Love to all, Jennywren xx

  • Hi, I know how you feel I put my bathers on for the first time on Sat , saw myself in the mirror and cried my eyes out!!! I am so self conscious about how I look. I don't recognise myself at all. Am thinking of going to see a phycologist to help me come to terms with all of this. I did see a nutritionalist and she helped a bit.  This is a great place to talk about how we really feel knowing that there are many others who feel the same xxx
