Anyone else had BC diagnosed in accessory, ectopic, breast (armpit)

hello
6-7% of the worlds population have breast tissue along mammary ridge, it's apparently kept from embryonic stage. Some have nipples other just tissue.

My  primary BC, and only, was in my left 'accessory breast' quite low in my armpit (in the past, I was always annoyed about small lump of 'fat' , no nipple, near armpit despite lots of push ups but never understood why, I'm small 49 kg so it was visible to me).

No BC found in normal breasts.

others out there w similar stories?  How common is this?

Chemo almost finished. My radiologist uncertain how to treat the armpit only as there are no studies? It's very unusual and BC nurse hasn't helped either. I keep being told I'm very unusual, stats don't apply to me etc.

Theres isn't even tags in the online forum for accessory breasts, don't seem to be able to add.

my BC diagnos was TNBC, 23 mm

thanks all
Monica

  • Thanks @primek and @Lmc1310
for responding. My primary was in armpit breast tissue and all cleared 15 lymph nodes were fine (had full axillary clearance). No reason to think it would be in either breast, but like all of us, need to keep checking, and checking...

  • Agree with Kath - hope all goes well for you. Sorry i dont have any knowledge to share
  • My niece was diagnosed by nodes only...her primary cancers were in the breast but macroscopic. I'm sure there are others out there it is just finding them. Unsual yes...but I guess it is still breast tissue and would need the same treatment. Hope all goes well for you. Kath x
