Last week, I went into the hospital, for my 6 weekly visit and sat beside a very terrorfied looking lady who was in there for her first time. I was thinking straight back to a year ago when I had my first day. I am terrible because I talk when Im nervous, and you cant shut me up! So when I go in for my frequent visit for something you dont need to worry about, thats another story, I breeze in and out without a concern. But just being in that room must set off nervous energy because I recall what it was like to start at the beginning. It is purely fear of the unknown, and she, like I, was terrorfied to begin with. But the nursing staff are lovely, and make it as easy as possible. Drink lots of water from now on, especially Chemo day, and 2 days before you ever have blood taken for blood tests. It takes time for the veins to hydrate, I was told, days, not hours. The kidneys, and liver rely on the water to flush out the toxins, and so water should be your best friend. I bought a juicer, and became natural through the experience. I gave up sugar, and I also didnt have red meant during my treatment. There are lots of stories and words of advice, but its a matter of keep your diet fresh fruit, veg, lean proteins, and do what is normally done to be healthy. I also only ate what I prepared in my own home. I look back at that time, and smile because they all thought I was a bit over the top - but I never was sick, and I bounced back pretty well. Feel free to read my blogs. Deep breath, its not so bad, many of us will agree, its the fear of the unknown.! X Bel
