Any advice or info.....I'm starting Zoladex

Ok Ladies, So tomorrow is my first Zolidex implant - I am very nervous! I have now done 2 months on Tamoxifen and despite being so scared about the side effects, I've actually found them to be very minimal. A tiny bit of nausea and a few days were I have felt really tired but other than that it's been completely fine. I'm eating well and exercising most days which I'm sure helps as well. So now I start Zolidedx. Saw my onc last week and she warned me again of the side effects, but said these could be more extreme than Tamoxifen as Zolidex actually stops ovarian function all together (whereas Tamoxifen simply blocks the oestregen getting to any cancerous cells), and therefore there is a stronger hormonal change than tamoxifen. I'm scared of becoming grumpy & emotional!!! I've always thought a positive mindset can combat anything but now I'm not so sure. So any advice or info regarding Zolidex would be most appreciated. I'll be taking it for 2 years - eek! :)

  • Hi Susie

So my beautiful little dog is a cavalier x chihuaha...he is gorgeous and I love him to bits!!!

So the Zolidex. Are you taking it in conjunction with anything else or just on it's own??? For me I go to the hospital once a month and get the injection. Hurts a little but completely manageable.

The main side effects I have experienced (keeping in mind I am also taking Tamoxifen) is the night sweats and hot flushes. I am now taking some other medication to help me combat both of those as they actually got to a point where it was unbearable (I was waking up drenched in sweat, bed lined drenched etc etc). So the new meds, plus a big fan right next to my bed and it all seems to be going ok. The occoasional flush or sweat but it's getting better.

Other than that, I haven't experienced any of the other side effects. Hopefully your experience with it will be a breeze!!!! Best of luck with it all.

    Cheers

  • Hi Annie,

I think I have seen a few women on the online network talking about Zoladex before. If you want to, you can search for previous blog posts by typing 'Zoladex' into the search field in the top right hand corner of this page.

If you need a hand, just let me know.
