Another pit hole in the road

Hi,  Just wanting to know if anyone has experienced heamaturia (blood in urine) while receiving chemo.  I received my 2nd dose of Docetaxel on the 20th October and was wondering if this is a side effect from this chemo treatment or any other.  Scare the bej**** out of me when the toilet bowel was full of bright red blood.

Thought initially it was from a UTI but this has subsequently been ruled out from bloods taken and my urine processed as well.

Could this be a result of the dexy which I take 16mg (2 x 4mg tabs twice as day) the day before chemo, 16mg on the day of, as well as Kytril just before chemo and then a reduced dose (8, 4 and 2) over the next three days.

Could this be from a burst cyst in the kidney?

Have the kidneys been affected from all the crap they give us?

Or is this just a one off event, with no answers and put it down to the cancer and how it's affecting my body, just like the clotting factor and having to inject myself with clexane for the rest of my life.

Your thoughts/response would be greatly appreciated.

Sue :)

    Dear Sue,

It's Lisa from the Policy Team. You may have already, but if not, I would encourage you to contact your medical oncologist or breast care nurse to discuss this with them.

    Warm regards,
    Lisa

  • Hi sue. I Would suggest calling your oncologist and discuss this with them.  It may be a side effect of chemo but best to check and put your mind at ease.

    Take care ??
