Another opinion, another direction.

Hi everyone. After 5 surgeries in 55 days that resulted in no progress at all , I headed to Perth In April to see another surgeon. It didn't go well. I was left feeling confused and depressed and just didn't know what to do. I saw my GP who agreed that the visit just didn't seem to go properly and then I had a decision to make. In the end and  thanks to the stories on this site I decided a 2nd opinion was in order. But who? My GP had no idea and I have no health insurance. Well, thanks again to this site and recommendations from others going through a similar thing, I found Dr Brigid Corrigan. WOW. She is amazing. I saw her this week, she can do the surgery and is very familiar with what I want. She was so agreeable to talk to that I now feel confidant I can move forward to the surgery and actually look forward to it, which will be about Christmas time. This site is awesome. Thank-you.

  • Hi, I am so glad you found Dr Corrigan. I discovered her accidently when I required emergency surgery while on holiday here in Perth from Sydney. I had a huge hematoma form 3 weeks after prophylactic mastectomy and insertion of tissue expanders.I went to RPH, as I knew no one in Perth and my Sydney Drs couldn't recommend anyone either. I was put on the end of her list, and she sorted my problem out really well. She needed to remove the expander, clean out the 800ml blood clot and replace the expander. It all went well, and my Sydney Plastic surgeon was delighted with her work. I have had no on going issues as a result of this. I met many women who had waited for ages to get on to her list. I hope you will be as happy as I was with my result. This happened 3 years ago. Take care. Chris xx
  • It is so great that after a couple of false starts you have finally found what you need.  It is so important to be comfortable with your surgeon especially because  reconstruction can be such an important part of recovery for many women.

You have some time now to relax and prepare for your december date, i hope you will update us in the breast reconstruction group so we can capture it for the ladies following you who need some inspiration.

    Awesome news, XXX Louie

  • That's wonderful news. It does pay to be persistent. It's a shame we have to be so assertive to get what we want. I really feel for those who aren't as assertive and are struggling with the whole BC experience as well. Great news. Paula x
