Another Lump?

Hey, I’m around 4 and a half years out from mastectomy after lumpectomies found invasive Stage 2 ER+ tumour. Lucky to have skipped the chemo & radiation merry go-round but been through every type of AI all with ongoing debilitating symptoms.

Recently after experiencing pain similar to heaviness, muscle-soreness on the left side of my remaining breast, I discovered a small hard lump.

My GP just confirmed she can also feel it and has referred me for mammogram & ultrasound but can’t get in at radiology for over 2 weeks.
My last scans were only 4 months ago but GP didn’t have a copy of the report on file.

Just looking at the scans again now, there was a focus spot marked by the radiographer in exactly the same position but surgeon didn’t mention it at my follow up appointment so presumably it was not alarming to her.

Will call her office on Monday to get her opinion and ask about previous report but wondered if anyone knows if pain is an indication of change in a lump?

  • Hi @dbelle, sorry you are going through this. It must be stressful for you.

I think any changes in a lump need investigation so it's good you are doing that. You could try to see if there are any cancellations to get your mammogram and ultrasound earlier.

Good to to check in with surgeon too on the last scan. I would also suggest if you aren't having your scans done at the same place as 4 months ago that you bring them with you so a comparison can be made.

Wishing you all the best for a good result.
  • All the best for your scans @dbelle - fingers & toes crossed it is nothing of concern.

Hmmm - unusual that your surgeon (or other team members who are usually sent the results as well) didn't suggest further checks at the time (to be sure, to be sure) so as @Cath62 suggested - checking in with your surgeon to check them out again would be good ....  Also weird that your GP doesn't have the report - make sure your Surgeon, GP, Rad Onc & Medical Onc are all on the report list ....

Are you able to contact an imaging centre for MG & US that is outside of your area & possibly get in sooner?  I actually go 1.5hrs away for mine - as I have more faith in them when my 'local' one missed mine 5 years ago ....

    take care xx

  • @dbelle
Do you have My Health record?  Accessed through your My Gov account
I am a full time carer for my sister
She had opted out of My Health record but when I took on her care I opted her in.  Now her reports are there

    Hope that helps!

Apart from that I do hope that at the end of the day it's caught early and benign

    Take care
    Best wishes
  • I just tried my health record & it didn't have ANY reports - only immunisation history & prescriptions.  Could you screenshot the bit that showed how to get to reports, @iserbrown, (leaving out any personal bits of course) xx

  • One of the hospitals I was in did not post ANY reports/results on myhealth. I had to ask my GP for them.
  • Very sketchy records. According to My Health Record, you wouldn’t know I’d had cancer!
  • Fortunately for me all documents including discharge are there as a result of me opting my sister back into My Health record.
