@GavinCh I had 3 weeks of rad following my surgery. It was suggested by my radiation oncologist that I use this clear film called Mepitel as Giovanna has mentioned above. Its sort of like glad wrap & they stick in on your skin on the area that will be zapped. My great niece called it my invisible skin! You do get used to it & you can shower with it & the nurses will keep checking on it to make sure it hasnt bubbled & will fix any tears. You keep it on for the entire treatment plus 2 weeks after as that is when the rad hits its peak. You can them remove it yourself. I found it FANTASTIC & you dont use ANY creams while you have it on. It protects your skin & at the end of the treatment, i didnt have ANY redness or peeling. You couldnt even tell that I even had rad treatment. I have seen many images of bad rad burns & i feel so blessed that my rad onc put me onto this. It didnt cost me anything but I have heard others that have said their clinic didnt supply it or they would have to pay for it as it is relatively new & is expensive for them to provide. Please ask your specialist if you can use this as the outcome is so good. Please give our love to karen & it is wonderful that you have found us & hopefully you are getting lots of help from the wonderful people of this forum. Hugs to you both xx
