Am getting anxious

HI

At least I got the good news that spots that showed on an ultra  sound   and needed a biopsy to investigate if they are also cancer ,turned out to be harmless cysts.

This coming week I am starting my first chemo. I am really scared now more than ever that it is near and now  after tests needed are done, my journey is beginning. I am not sure of what side effects I will get .I know it can be different with different people. A day before I will be fitted with the portacath which will make the blood tests and needed tests for injecting dye easier. I still need to do after chemo starts an MRI which the nurses could not do due to my small veins,

Any help, advice  how to deal with anxiety and nerves about starting chemo please. Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated. Have a nice weekend.

  • HI Scorpion Queen,

Thanks for  replying to my post. I know it is different the side effects with different people. With me is the added anxiety knowing as I had been told from the start,  that the anti nausea pills will cause  my sugar levels go up a lot, so have to be conscious of that added consequence. I am type 2 insulin dependant. So I know it is not going to be a breeze chemo for me which scares me, to be totally honest.

You said the three magic words

    Stay Strong, breathe and believe.

  • Definitely have company with you! Not only does it make the time go faster, but it's a good distraction for when you are feeling nervous....

It's perfectly normal to be anxious about chemo, it's a big frickin' deal!

The side effects are different for everyone that's for sure...I wish I was one of those people who can continue to jog and bike ride! But it's also different for the different types of drugs used......I've adopted the 'expect the unexpected' way of thinking....then if the unexpected doesn't happen...BONUS!

All in all you have to just go with the flow...listen to your body...it's frustrating and exhausting...but you will get through it! Breeeeeeathe....remember to breathe....we are all here for you...marching right along side you..

Love and light for easy recovery and beautiful days

  • HI Brenda,

Thanks for the advice of not being alone for my chemo. My husband will always accompany me  and my kids want to take turns to be there too.Sorry that for you there was no company, Hoping that was the first one with no company, for other chemo session you were not alone.

  • HI Skitzy,

I wish you good luck for the 19/4 and wishing you will have little small effects or better still none at all. Thanks  for the healing vibes you sent my way, I welcome them with open arms.Have a nice weekend.

    xx

  • Definitely take someone with you. I did a dose alone during chemo and it was the worst day of all. You need company.

  • Wishing you well with your treatment & sending healing vibes to you I will be starting A C chemo on the 19th & am also worried about the side effects.

I suppose all we can do is take it hour by hour & look ahead to the finish.
