Alternative to silicone prosthesis

Good afternoon ladies

Firstly, I would like to say a HUGE THANK YOU to ChristineM for the amazing cotton breast prosthesis she has made for me.

ChristineM (a BCNA member who has had BC) has been busy crocheting these wonderful prosthesis for ladies who have had a mastectomy.

ChristineM is a very clever lady who does a fantastic job - the quality of her work is amazing.

I gave Christine my size and she got to work.  I have received the prosthesis - plus some extra padding in case I needed more.

My first try was on a 38 degree day and it was so much cooler than my Amoena one.  Also, it can be worn in an ordinary (non pocketted) bra.  There was none of that annoying movement either.

I will attach a photo for ladies who have not seen the cotton prosthesis - bear in mind it had just come out of the post bag so had not taken on my shape and size.  Christine will make them with or without a little nipple.

I am sure she will happily help others who are in search of alternatives.

Good luck.

Summer

  • Thank you for your private message and for replying to the other ladies so they can try the 'boobies', too.

It is a shame that BCNA did not think to make my blog a feature as then it would stay on the front page for a few days and give more ladies the chance to see it.  Not everyone goes back through the blogs looking for things of interest and unfortunately not a lot seem to know of this cotton alternative.

"Miss Rightie" is with me again today, in an ordinary bra as we again expect hot weather.

    Thanks again

    Summer  :-)

  • Hi Sandy and Robyn

ChristineM is a member here on the network so she will no doubt see your messages and answer.

I found her via one of her blogs but cannot remember the title.  You may be able to find her via the search bar (?) but I will ask her to check the website when I speak with her.

They are so much better on hot days !

    Enjoy !

    Summer  :-)

    Good luck
