Ahoy there me hearties!

Must share a funny story!

I went up to my local shopping centre the other day and I was only going to pop a letter into the post box out the front, so I didn't put "my hair" on.  I normally wouldn't go up there without it but this particular day I was only going to be a minute and was wearing a bandana.

Well, when I got there I decided to quickly pop into the local supermarket for some milk.  As I walked quickly to the back of the store I felt a little self-conscious in the bandana but tried to ignore the feeling.  On the way back to the checkout I passed by a little girl (must have been about 4 or 5 yrs old).  She looked up at me with these big eyes and her mouth slowly formed into a big O.  She turned to her mother and said in a big loud serious voice "oh look, a pirate!!"  I just smiled at her as I walked passed but when I got back to my car I completely lost it and was killing myself laughing LOL

Out of the mouths of babes - aren't kids wonderful!  I didn't even have my parrot on my shoulder or my hook with me that day......LOL

Great to have a laugh at ourselves sometimes ladies :)

  • I just caught up with this priceless story and your reply tickled me also Tonya. Don't you just love those little girls in arms wearing a head band - especially when their mums put butterflies or fairies on them or another lovely little accessories. Otherwise their heads are completely bald - I wonder if we could start a new "craze" of just wearing these scant little head bands with lovely accessories and posing with our bright red lipstick on....

What a wonderful picture to imagine...

  • That was so funny Louise! It reminded me of my youngest some twenty odd years ago when we were in a supermarket - however, I nearly died of embarresment because my litte four year old pointed and in a very loud voice yelled "Look Mummy, that man has only got one arm!"................oh dear!

  • You just brought a smile to my face as it brought back a sweet memory from my bald year! I had the same thing happen. Ahoy there back to you fellow pirate!...PS just think of the priceless names for those of us who venture out without a bandana...on those really hot days/hot fush days I would say to myself...stuff it, I have the right to go out looking as I do...but I couldn't help but feel slightly self-conscious as my fluffy bowling ball balanced between my boney shoulders! Love to all. X

  • That is so lovely - there is no stopping littlies saying what is on their mind.  I have cut my long hair to short in readiness for chemo.  My little granddaughter (not quite 3) looked at me - just for a second then I was "just nanna".  Not sure what she will think when I have no hair - I don't think it will matter as long as I still "play with me Nanna"XLeonie
