Acne after Chemo

Hi,

I am 36 and was diagnosed with Triple negative, stage 2 breast cancer in Dec 2011. I have had a lumpectomy and had my first chemo Taxotere & Cyclo on Fri 27th Jan. About a week after I started breaking out in really bad acne on chin, upper back and even my scalp.

Has anyone else had the same?

  • Hi Julie,

Hopefully I'm like you and dont get them again.  I'm booked in for the Look good feel better workshop on Monday so I'm looking forward to that.

  • Hi jjmum, I'm on the same treatment as you, have just had the 3rd of 4 treatments. I too got spots after the first treatment but you might be pleased to know that it didn't happen with the second treatment, and just a little with the third. In fact, strangely, I think my skin seems to be looking generally quite good, everyone said how dry it would get but I haven't noticed.

I do look after it more now though, lots more thorough cleansing, and if you go to a Look Good Feel Better workshop (are they offered at your hospital?) they really push looking after your skin, was a good lesson for me who previously didn't care too much.

Good luck with  the rest of the treatments.

    Julie

Hi jjmum, and welcome to the site! :) I hope you find it useful and know that there is nearly always someone around here who has been through a similar experience and can answer your questions.

If you haven't found it yet, the Help page is a good place to start if you want to find out more about how the site works.

Just ask if you need a hand finding your way around.

    Cheers,
    Daina

  • Hi jjmum

I used to get lots of spots as well.  I think it is to do with your blood counts being low and I don't think the steroids help either (dexe).  I used to use Tea Tree wash.
