AC Chemo
I only realised this morning when I was out on my walk, just how anxious I am about having my 4th and last AC Chemo treatment on Thursday. I've got it on the list to question the oncologist about but I know that a number of women have said that this can be worse than the first treatment and if that is what I can expect, I'm packing it. I know that I haven't had things as bad as some on this forum but I honestly don't know how I could go through anything like those first few days again, let alone if it's worse. I know that no-one can do anything to help - I just needed to put it out there as I don't want to get everyone else anxious before it happens. Worse still, it'll be the start of the school holidays and I'm really, unreasonably, angry about that. I love the kids being home and I hate that, yet again, I probably won't really be up for making the most of the time with them.

- onemargieMemberHi there @sister. I had dose dense chemo fortnightly AC then fortnightly taxol. 4 doses of each and I’m with @primek it definately wasn’t worse for me as I too had my side effects under control it was pretty much the same for me for the 4 rounds that I had then the taxol wasn’t as bad either. Just listen to your body and I know your pissed off you might not be able to hang out with the kids like you want but there will be other school holidays you can enjoy with them later in the year. Perhaps you can plan something cool for the September ones so you have something positive to focus on and you’ll be finished all your trestment by then. I know it’s a bloody shitty as fucking hell time for you right now but rest assured love you can do this. I think the fear of the unknown is the worst with chemo isn’t it. Let us know how you go. Take it a day at a time. Biggest hug Margie xx
- Cynth6MemberI also had dose dense AC as they thought I could handle it better bexause i was 30. Haha yeah right...I was bed riddened for a whole 6 days after each infusion !
- Cynth6MemberAh the dreadful AC. But that was the good stuff that helped my tumour shrink very fast. After my third round of AC, I literally cried to my oncologist and said I’d had enough and I won’t be doing the 4th one. It of course she talked me out of it and I did it and never looked back.
Just think it’s the last one of the horrible “red devil”. I personally found I got so anxious about the 4th one but I found it to be the best one out of the 4. I almost think my body got used to it and just coped better 4th time round.
Sending you positive vibes. Just remember it’ll be over soon enough and the next school holidays you’ll be able to have the energy to spend quality time with your kids : ) - Riki_BCNAMemberHi@sister wishing you all the best for Thursday too

- jennyssMemberDear @Sister
from jennyss (my last round was no worse; and like @PatsyN ; now I can hardly remember. - SisterMemberI can't even begin to imagine dose dense chemo - I'm such a wuss. It's good to hear that not everyone has a bad 4th dose, though. Thanks @PatsyN and @primek. I will try to have positive thoughts so I don't will myself into a bad reaction.

- primekMemberI honestly felt a little better by the 4th dose as all my associated symptoms were under control...reflux dealt with, constipation sorted, nausea worked out. The other fabulous thing is knowing it was the last time I ever had to have it. That put a spring in my step.
So lovely...head held high...you got this girl....chemo warrior....go get em. - PatsyNMember@Sister I had AC Chemo dose dense which meant I got it every 2 weeks instead of every 3 weeks. I thought that it got easier with each dose. The first dose was the worst and even that was not too bad. I dissociated myself from what was happening and now can hardly remember any of it.
