Absolutely Devastated !
Today I received news one of my 3 sisters who had Uterine cancer in 2010 and received the all clear in June last year has stage 4 incurable lung cancer. She has never smoked in her life and has been healthy otherwise. Chest X Ray a year ago for a sore back showed nothing on examination. Now, Cat and PET scan and biopsies a month later she received the diagnosis. She retired a year ago and was enjoying helping out with her grandchildren aged 7 & 8 years old. She has one daughter.
Out of 7 children - I've had breast cancer twice , oldest sister bowel cancer, her - uterine cancer, brother cerebral haemorrhage , brother heart tumour and youngest sister had a recall for breast biopsy and ultrasound on her breast for next Tuesday. My father had breast cancer - he was the first and since then there are 15 relatives with it , some no longer with us. BRCA gene negative for me and positive for cousins. Can't believe the news, soooo unfair . So much in our family . Just felt like a rant and I choose you ladies , where else would I go? Sorry if it's not allowed on BRCA but cancer is cancer . Thanks Beppie ??

Oh Beppie. That is just such crappy news and it's hardly surprising that you feel devastated. Some families seem to get so much more than their fair share. Thinking of you and your family and sending positive thoughts. Karen xox

Hi Beppie, don't know about you, but I am incredibly bad at dealing with grief. Sounds like you have a long history of dealing with that. Hope you have people who will surround you and your sister with love, Trace xXx

Gosh Beppie, if you can't rant and rave here- there is nowhere else really... and as the others have said, we are here to help you spread the load.
I am not sure if you are keen, but if you are, ask the specialist if you can be part of any research studies- interesting things may come up from the past and for the future.. and it helps others in the same predicament.
You family has a huge load to carry, but know you have BCNA's members on your side.

Such a crappy disease especially when its in a family line. Don't give up hope though even on lung cancer, we have a local old fella here with asbestosis and he lives on intermittent chemo. Some days he's awful but some he gets to be with his grandkids and he wouldn't trade that for anything.
For more family information and support you should look into pinkhope.org.au there may be special councillors available to your family. They are devoted to the genetic mutations of cancer in families.
Rant accepted Beppie....
Love sent your way, Love sent your family's' way..
Love sent to all
