Hello lovely lady!

I did not have to have chemo but had the radiation treatments.  I also developed upper abdominal pain and tried the Gaviscon and Zantac but with not much relief decided to visit my GP.  She thought it may be gastritis and referred me for an endoscopy to investigate.  Sure enough, that is what it was and I was prescribed Nexium 40mg which worked a treat.  In recent months, as things have settled down I have dropped down to Nexium 20mg and even only taking one of those every second day now.  Perhaps visit you GP and talk about the possiblity of it being gastritis.

Good to hear it may improve. The pain in the stomach is terrible. Feels like somebody punched me in the stomach. Zantac still to kick in as I took another one this morning. Very difficult to eat and no appetite. Still I am trying the little by little meals. Mylanta only works for maybe half an hour then wears off. Anyway enough of the whing.

Yes same with me especially on the first round of chemo. It was never so bad again. Constipation is a constant struggle though. I take coloxyl( sometimes works) fibre tablets, prunes etc and sometimes I'm still blocked up. I then resort to 2 ducolax which give me mild diarrhoea for a couple of hours the next day, but great not to feel so bloated and windy! I also got heartburn the first time but mylanta worked. The Onco then gave me Zantac to take but I haven't had it again. I think eating little and often helped me as well. Hope you are feeling better now. Each time we get better at managing the symptoms and avoiding the problems. :) Julie

I took coloxyl and that took care of the constipation. But this pain feels like indigestion although I dont have much experience of that. So I am waiting for the zantac to work. This was the advice from the chemo nurse.

Hope it goes away soon or else another sleepness night. 

Will look into prunes too.

I got constipated after chemo and then got lots of wind pain. As a result I would start eating lots of high fibre foods pre chemo. Prunes etc. really helped. Good luck. Paula
