A year has gone by!

Hi Ladies

  • It was about this time last year I wandered into a doctor's surgery........................yes, you got it, it all went down hill from there!  The doctor I went to told me to go and get some 'scans' done....so because I had to do it myself - I couldn't get a booking for four week, this didn't seem to bother anyone.  After the scans, I went back to the doctor and asked her about them......she said "What scans".  I sat passively and reminded her, so she consulted her computer and withoust looking up - and Dr Forgetful said "Mmmmm, you need to be referred to a surgeon as you have breast cancer!" Excuse me?  I walked out of the surgery in a daze, I might have well have had a cold for all the interest she showed.  My surgeon wanted to know "Why has this taken so long...." I told him. "Mmmmm" he said.   So that resulted in the lumpectomy - I had to go back to 'THAT' doctors (Dr Forgetful) surgery to find out the results - THAT doctor wasn't there, so her partner (lets call him 'Dr Give-up' - for reasons you will see) told me I "Should prepare for the worst and get my things in order......I should consider if I wanted to be revived......."  I was a bit shocked because he said in the next breath "....your results aren't back yet..."  Talk about 'jump the gun!'.....Needless to say I didn't go back to that surgery again.
  • But here's the kicker - after a year of the whole gambit, surgery, chemo, radiotherapy and ongoing Herceptin - comes time for our Wedding Anniversary - so we go out to tea - Well! what can I say, we got seated to a table right next to 'Doctor Forgetful and Dr Give-up!' there they were not two feet away! This in itself had a sever restriction on my appette Suffice to say the food was downright horrible (Where's Chef Ramsey when you need him!) Hubbies veges were cut the size of watermelons, and he only had a spoon and fork to negotiate his way through the plate - as his veges' flew off the plate in all different directions onto the floor! - I couldn't help myself, I got the giggles!  I saw the funny side - hubby and I grabbed our other un-opened bottle of bubbly and headed for home, where we proceded to drink and be merry, enjoyed our own company and had a laugh about 'our night out'......
