A reprieve from symptoms

It is now several weeks since starting a different aromatase inhibitor and I am feeling "Human".  It is great to be able to sleep a little more solidly too.  My thoughts are that anything in your life, good or bad is better tolerated if you can get a good solid sleep.

The pain in my joints have dissipated now althought there is some stiffness in my ankles ( I really must do some yoga or something)

I am now waiting to do another bone scan , CT and bloods, just to see how my body is responding to the new drug.

The reason for this post is to encourage everyone to make a habit of discussing with those who know you well, (whether that is your oncologist, best friend, bcna forums etc) what you are feeling, whats happening to your body.  As I have experienced, this has helped me beyond measure, to realize that I am not alone and help is to be had if we just reach out.

Take care and God bless

  • Hi Moira,

I must apologize for not getting back to you, it must seem so rude.  I must admit, am finding it hard to navigate this site and my messages etc.  Anyway, am here now.

I was on Femara before Arimidex.......... obviously I have stuck with the latter as the symptoms have been much less.  The doc is treating the stiff and painful fingers with an anti - inflammatory which has been successful but it will only be short term, upon which he will do a trigger release for my thumb, so fingers crossed , hee hee hee.

The depression really got me though, as I had never been a depressive person in the past.  The only help was an antidepressant, which has been fun and games ( the side effect of wanting to sleep all of the time).  Still sorting it out, but am sure that we will get there in the end.  I just keep keeping on as they say - well you have to when you have three kids looking up to you.

    Anyway, please accept my apology.

    Kindest Regards.......Angela

  • Thats great the the new drug is better than the first one.  Which one were you on and which one are you on now.  I was on Arimidex and have another 6 months to complete the 5 years.  I have been one of the lucky ones, and only suffered stiff fingers in the morning but once i had them moving all was good, the only down side is my bones are now not to good.  you are so right about discussing things, and that is why we are so lucky to have this site, where we can discuss with people who may have gone through the same things, we have all made the same journey but we all react differently, so it is always good to get someone elses thoughts on side effects, medication, and general well being. and nobody can help better than someone who has benn there and know exactly what you are goin through..Thank you for sharing. regards Moira
