hi elisaw, you have been through so much this year. grief is a common reaction to what we have to go through; the loss and adjustment. life may not be the " same" again. you are a fitness instructor and i am guessing having a fit and working/ strong body was / is something you appreciate. maybe you feel your body has let you down? as you say breast cancer does not discriminate.
you seem to have your sense of humour which can help a lot. positive thoughts on getting better/ healing and taking time to be still and reflect on things helped me also, plus eating well, and learning to " accept" what life throws at you and adjusting to it. ( not always easy )
it is a shock at diagnosis, also body image, capacity to work, discomfort from surgery and treatments, tiredness and on going hospital appointments and tests.
perhaps talk to someone/ breast care nurse? we all have breaking point, and even though we might be strong, it is ok to ask for " help". we do not have to be " strong" all the time. it is a very challenging time, and keeping it together is not easy.
good luck with reconstruction of nipple and tattoo.
take it easy. after all you have been through it takes some time to recover, emotionally and physically. financial problems also would be challenging.
i think you work out your priorities with this illness.
hope you get back to the bahamas again soon.
kathy.
