A Happy Life

Hello My Lovelies,

Michael and I are back from our holiday in the sun and it was just so wonderful. Honestly its what we all need when our treatments are over a beautiful rest with some warmth in our bones. I wish I could make it happen for you all.

I feel well and rested and the best comment was from my step daughter who told me I look like me again, thank-you meli thats just what I want.

My fundraiser High Tea is this Sunday and I am so excited to be giving back, it promises to be a fun afternoon and people have been so generous with their donations for the silent auction.

My return to work is scheduled for Tuesday 22nd October, I am so excited and nervous at the same time.

So ladies as you can see I have reclaimed my life, watch out world Donna is back!

Love to you all

Donna

  • I was also lucky enough to be able to escape Tasmania's never ending cold weather or rain  recently.  I went home for a week to S.A. then shifted house, and then we both went to Sydney for 5 nights to visit my husbands family.  The weather was a lot warmer, and we got back before the really hot weather kicked in.  I wish we had lots of money to go on a fabulous cruise or trip to a tropical island, but until then, any holidays a good holiday.  I am about to go back to work after a year off in November.  Hmmmm thats gonna be tricky!  Take care Donna, and lets hope we all stay well!  XX Bel

  • Great Great Great to hear you sounding so positive and happy. I havent been on here for a bit but I click in to a few different pink gals and check out how you all are. I have 5 sleeps to go til my mastectomy. Reading such inspiring blogs always puts a smile on my face and a tear in my eye.

    Stay well xxxx

  • Fan-bluddy-tastic! It's so great to hear you have reclaimed your old self. I can't wait for that time. I don't think I'm far off though, just want the pain to go away and then I think I can start to feel my new normal. I think you're right that every one of us needs warmth and relaxation after all this is done and I will try and talk my husband into something not just for me but for him as well. He definitely needs some down time to unwind. Good luck starting back to work Donna and I'm sure your fundraiser will be a great success. Much love Janey xxx
  • I thought I would never feel like me again, I was off work for 7 months and for a workaholic control freak life was a nightmare. Nothing that happened througout my 10 months of treatment was in my control and I struggled.

Through my chemo I struggled, I seemed to get so many side effects and there were days I just didn't think I would make it, but..................for many of us it does come to a finish and yes there are still doctors appointments and monitoring to be done but we can get our lives back and find that pleasure again.

The best thing I did for myself was to see a psychologist, honestly at the beginning I was in denial I was all I am ok but I wasn't and once I started seeing her I started to understand where I could get some control again and where i had to let go.

I was so lucky I had 30 radiations and they told me that I would be still effected for 2 weeks after but as soon as my radiation finished I started healing,  the burns and broken skin were gone very quickly.

So Deanne, may your radiation go smoothly, your skin heal quickly and your life be yours again very soon.

  • Hi Donna So glad to hear you enjoyed your holiday and are feeling like the original Donna again. As we go through the various treatments, it is encouraging to hear that you do get back to normal again. I am hoping to feel and look a bit more like me by Christmas. Just have 23 more radiation treatments to get through and then it is recovery time! Congratulations on reclaiming your life! :) Deanne xx
