A Down Day

Hi all. I am recovering from a mastectomy operation. I was extremely fortunate to hear the good news that they got it all! I am to be put on hormone tablets to keep any further cancer from returning. It has been quite a journey for my family and myself and only now that the worst is over do I feel emotional and so very humble. My Daughter and husband were with me all the way and never leaving my side on day of operation. After surgery it was easier to stay at my daughters as hubby works shifts and the company of her and my little grandsons made my recovery all the more richer. The busyness of a young family kept my mind on other things other than cancer. My Daughter was going through trying times and not once did she complain at all about the extra washing but instead would always check if I wanted anything, helped me to dress, dry my hair and how I loved it at night when she would bring me a cuppa. Lie on the bed with me and we'd chat and laugh and in the morning would bring the baby into me for a cuddle. We reversed roles there for a bit where I enjoyed being the child! My husband called in daily to see me before heading pff to work and my daughter always had his meals cooked or packed ready to take. My Daughter always puts others before herself and I extremely proud of her for the woman she has become. I had Physio today as I have cording under my arm. I had another blood test today as well. This one to checkup vitamin D and calcium levels but the very fact that blood is being tested brings it all back and secretly I paranoid and frightened they will detect more cancer. I think in reality we have been operating in overdrive for so long now, if is catching us up and all the fears, anxieties, trauma and now sheer relief and disbelief are coming out,
