9 down 3 to go!

Wow can't believe how fast this has gone. I only have 3 Taxol/Herceptin chemo treatments left. Yeah and I survived the last 6 months while working 3 days a week during the last 3 months. Kept me sane and mind active. Now it's getting through Christmas and the madness that does with it.Looking forward to relaxing, reading and time with my gorgeous family. Then it's onto radiotherapy in mid Jan and herceptin 3 weekly until Oct. not to mention Tamoxifen. Can someone please offer any advice for side effects of Tamoxifen as I've heard weight gain is a major one. I am now where I want to be with my weight. Any advice would be welcome.

    Thanks for your lovely comments Penny and Kathy. Yes it will probably all hit me after radiotherapy!  I still have 9 months of Herceptin to go so this will probably be the time.

    Hi Al,

    Well, the strong ones fall the hardest ...so take it easy is my advice. In a year or two you can get on with things. You do not have to be superwoman. The treatments add up I think, so listen to your body and get help where you can, and rest.

    You have a LOT on your plate right now, and Xmas on top of it too, so extra stress.

    That said, I think you are doing a great job ! All the best for a relaxing Xmas and a healthy new year in 2012.

    I'm with Tonya, I don't know how you did it either. I'm am starting Tamoxifen also, when radiation finishes, but I haven't thought about it much, trying to get through chemo first. I must admit the little I have read I don't like. You will be so happy to spend some time at home with the family for Christmas. I hope you enjoy. Much love Penny xxxx

    Thanks Tonya for you kind words. Glad when it's all over. Some great advice from someone who has been there! Thanks Tonya!  Good to know about Tamoxifen and it's effects. So far my side effects haven't been too bad. They were worse on AC chemo but that was expected.

    I don't know how you worked whilst on chemo -I'm in awe! Looks like you are on the downhill run now.Radiotherapy is nowhere near as hard as chemo,just tedious.Tamoxifen is abit unpredictable.Some women have no side effects whatsoever.As for me I am tolerating it with abit of help from my friend Endep 10mgs-which is a very low dose antidepressant. I was getting hot flushes ++, sleepless nights and low mood but endep helped with all that. I've put on about 4 kilos since I started Tamoxifen 16mths ago but managed to lose 1.5kgs moving house recently. Hope I can keep this trend up AFTER Christmas.Hope you have a good Christmas and a restful break.
