6 weeks after surgery

Hi everyone, Has anyone out there had a black patch of skin near the nipple which just won't lift off! It is shrinking in size very, very slowly. It is an area of dead skin on the surface which is hopefully hiding pink skin underneath. Nasty scab which feels like crab shell when uncovered and then softens when cream applied and covered. Any ideas on how to speed up the healing process. Six weeks seems forever. Breast nurse says hang in there but definitely no swimming- my favourite exercise. Ahhhhh! As each day goes by odd little niggles come and go in the new boobs. Wish I had started a diary of all the weird feelings. It certainly has taken longer than the initial estimate but it is happening..... Slowly

  • My surgeon is sure it will all be ok eventually but if not not he said it would be a simple skin graft! It looks like the top layer may be lifting so fingers crossed. It gives me absolutely no pain so that is good. I think my left breast is totally hormonal. I find it reacts to my emotional state so it has it's ups and downs. I started driving on the weekend and that was so good. We will just have to hang in there through the little niggles and keep our eyes on the big picture. Merry Christmas and a healthy new year.
  • Has your surgeon had a look at it? Sounds a little worrying. It's been 14 weeks since my op and I still have worrying little niggles. I think that we are super sensitive to anything right now and I think I will be be quite some time yet. I guess this is normal considering what we've been through. I hope you continue to improve even if it is slowly Susan. Have a wonderful Christmas and healthy new year. Love Janey xxx
