6 new brain mets!
This is my first post after a considerable absence. In 2014 I was diagnosed with metastatic lymph nodes in the mediastinum of the left lung together with a secondary in the body of the fifth lumbar vertebrae of the spine.
I commenced chemo (Herceptin and Abraxane). The chemo was temporarily halted in June 2014 when I had neurosurgery to remove a right Temporal lobe secondary. Subsequent CSF leaks from the surgery site resulted in more neurosurgery in August and December with corresponding delays in the chemo. Good news was that the chemo regime had worked on the lung mets but not the spine.
An MRI in January 2015 now shows 6 new brain metastasies - the largest being in the brain stem and the next largest in the Right Cerebellum.
I am now at Day 17 on the Tykerb and Zeloda chemo regime and experiencing some very violent digestive upsets!!
I am doing this for the sake of the three most precious things to me - my three beautiful children

Hi Sonia
I know it is a while since your post, but I'm here trawling through my messages and came across your post and was moved by your passion to fight this rubbish disease.
Having children is the most amazing motivator right? Just wanted to see how you are travelling now. I'm another one who has littles, and I'm so encouraged to hear your determination to do whatever you can for their sake. Love that.
Cheers
Catherine

Hi Sonia and Mandy,
So appreciative to see this and see how you're going. Hoping treatment "right on target" and lots of good times! Such good news about response in your lungs.
Sonia, btw, your post has gotten me back on the right track with drinking enough water...I get so casual about it in the muggy weather...then finish up "wilted"!
Love from Jenny xx

Hi Sonia.
Always seems unfair that one person must go through so much!! You are certainly inspirational. I am in my eighth year of bone mets and still going strong. Yes, I have had my ups and downs but hey, my life is pretty good. You Tassies must really suffer in heat, I know I did couple Januaries ago when in Launceston on holiday mercury hit 42!!! And our hotel had no air con or fans!! We nearly died. Apart from that, had an amazing couple weeks eating and drinking our way around the beautiful Island!! I am a Perthite. Where in Tassie are you?
I hope the chemo is being kinder to you these days. Look after yourself, Julie. xx
- DesiMemberSending lots of love and hugs. I have mets on the lining if the lungs, liver and spine. At the moment I have a pleural drain in which they drain every two days from home. The nurses are wonderful. I am on Aromasin & Xeloda. Hope all works out well for you. Cheers Desiree

- SoniaWhite48MemberThanks Michelle, It is so nice to hear that others are inspired by my journey. I just keep fighting on but always with a sense of humour. In the words of Monty Python ... " Always look on the bright side of life!" I hope you are travelling well on your journey. Sonia. :-)
- SoniaWhite48MemberThanks for the words of wisdom Jenny. I gave the Palliative Care Nurse a call for advice on the severe diarrhoea. Keep hydrated is the answer, especially in the heat we are experiencing here in Tas at the moment. Sonia
