5 down and 1 to go!!

HI everyone of you lovely people,

Hope you are holding up under the strain. Just wanted to share with you.  I had my second last chemo (docetaxel + herceptin) today. I had a reallybad reaction to the docetaxel. I went really hot, thought I was going to pass out, couldnt breath and turned red. And that was just a few seconds of the drugs going in. So everything stopped. Nurses and doctor came from everywhere( have to keep them on there toes poor things) and fixed me up really quick. I had to have another drug for half hour then slowly start the docetaxel and turn up the rate very slowly so it took forever the put that one through then had the herceptin (no drama's there). I am now known as "the problem child".

So I arrived at 9am and left at 4pm. Another long day and feel very tired but ok. So time will tell if i get anything like the last time. I have lots of drugs to combat pain, thrush, nausea and mouth ulcers. See how I go.

So there you go. 5 down and one more chemo to go then continue on with herceptin for a year and tamoxifen for 5 years. Bring on 2016.

I hope you are hanging in there. {{GENTLE HUGS}} to everyone.

  • Hi Chrissy,

Well done - you are doing so well even with your misbehaving.  I can now brag - I have finished my radiation treatment today.  Yah.  I behaved this time and tried to take it easy.  So far so good as I haven't "fallen over"  I have a bit of a bad "spot" but other than that all's good.  My husband arrives to join me tomorrow so lucky I'm over shopping.  He'll curb any of my "shananigans".  I read all the blogs re chemo and it doesn't make sense yet until I know what my potion is.  Boy will I be looking back on previous blogs once I know some names of the "mixes".  I'm a real "want to know everything" person so your blogs will be revisited.  Keep on blogging and I wish for you to sail through this chemo and also your last.  Best wishes XLeonie

  • Well Chrissy that was a fun day out for you.Doesn't seem like you and docetaxil get along very well at all.You seem to have a virtual chemist shop at home in readiness for chemo's little surprises.I really hope you have an easier time of it this round. You are really so brave to front up for more-I think I would have done a runner by now. After this chemo,Tamoxifen will seem like a lolly! Take it easy and don't be rushing back to your job too soon.
