2nd surgery

Well so much for the good news... oh there was some, the lump they removed was clear around it!  Just having the "Slice and Dice" team have a second go under my arm, there was a bit of an issue with travelling nasties.

I took it really well, I went in with a clear mind thinking, what will be will be!  Remember that Dorris Day song "Que Sera ....."  after all once youre told you have Stage 3 Cancer and it will require Chemo and Radiation you know youre in for a big ride!

My brother is a doctor and he said "At least Im theyre not saying "Dont by any green bananas!"  which I thought was hillarious.  He and have a 6 yr age diff and we arent that close, well not..but as soon as I had this new I rang him.  He has a friend, who is an Oncologist who gave us a second opinion.  It was the same as my Doctors, so it put my mind at ease.

Operation Thurs 15 here in Launceston and I will be in for 2 or 3 nights.  Will take my earplugs and eyemask again!  Hate sleeping on my back.....and that square box TV urrrrr....

They will pop in a Port at the same time for the chemo to enter via, which Id aready had news was the best option.

Parents also arrive from SA on the same night.

  • Good luck from me too; you will be fine and having a Port is a breeze - everyone should have one!! Makes blood tests, chemo etc so much easier. I've still got mine so if you need to know more then drop me a line.

As Louise says, if you need to talk then there is always someone here who can help so just know that good wishes are going your way.

    Take care

  • Good luck Bel.  You've got a great attitude and I'm sure you will cope well with what life is throwing you at the moment!  Just remember though that, when times are tough (and we all have our bad days), come and rant and rave to us all.  We've been through it and we know what you are going through.  We are always here to listen :)

    Take care,

    Louise xx

  • Hey Bel, thinking of you. That's not great news, but they are bound to knock you hard with chemo to deal with any stray cells. So you gotta be looking forward to that...right! I had 2 tumours with different pathology (obviously cancer trying hard to get me), then multi centric DCIS found via MRI. So they have taken an aggressive approach with me, and I've survived it so far, and many others way worse than my experience I'm sure. With your attitude you will cope with anything thrown your way. And if you feel down and sometimes angry....just get online and shout away. Good luck with your next surgery, thank god for parents who arrive just in time Louie
