2nd cycle Day 2

Well had another round of chemo on Wednesday and luckily I didn't go into this round with a massive migraine like the last. The Dexa is fine, not sleeping but that's ok. I had to inject myself with a large dose of neulasta yesterday, last time about 4 smaller doses over a few days as my white cells dropped too far first round. The last 2 nights very strange, sweating really bad, red as lobster from by breast up including face arms and head, looks like I'm really sunburnt. Keep checking my temp ranging from 35 to 37 nothing alarming. In the morning the redness gone, except this afternoon my breast is inflamed and very hot. Took myself off to the GP he has given me antibiotics but wants me to check with breast care nurse. Hopefully tonight I won't do the lobster thing and be ok.

  • Yes Wendy I had my 2nd round last Wednesday as well at Nambour General boy the fatigue this time  was way worse than the first time, I actually spent the whole weekend in bed and could hardly eat anything but thankfully I wasnt too sick. Feel tired but am feeling well today still dont like the thought of eating only like fruit, I cant work out what I want its that stupid no taste in the mouth, everything except something sweet, tastes horrible.

Only have 2 more treatments then 6 weeks of radiation.

Here's to getting through this journey and out the other end back to life again xxx

  • Are you on your 2nd cycle of chemo. I just read your blog and your dates and what your treatment seems similar. I had my 2nd chemo last Wednesday. Wendy. Xxx
  • Hi Gypsy

Yes I agree this site has put my mind at ease on numerous occasions....my rash is so so itchy and peeling now ice is helping with that and the creams the doctor gave me are just kicking in today. So am looking forward to this to end otherwise I am now feeling well again but its day 7 today so am house bound I am having a blood test tomorrow to see how things are going which will be interesting since having the needle after chemo.

All the best to you keep well DI xx

  • We are all learning as this is something none of us would have expected, I'm sure. If we can help each other along the way then It doesn't seem as bad. I hope your skin is getting better.xxxx
  • I was told not to go out in the sun as skin is very sensitive and will burn. Sounds like exposure to the sun has caused your condition. Yes always go to your doctor if unsure, they'll set you straight. My condition was not caused by the sun, more from the chemo or the Dexa I think. it went away after a few days so not sunburn more of a rash. Most likely the Dexa, hard to tell when you have so many meds going around your body. The neulasta has given me other side effects, pain in the joints and muscles. Hoping your treatments is going well. Xxx
  • Hi Tanya I am on docetaxel and cytoxan. I also have dexa methadone the night before chemo and for 3 days after. In addition an injection of Neulasta a day after chemo. I have had quite a few side effects and trying to work out which meds is causing what has been difficult. I am pretty sure the sunburnt look was from the chemo, not from sitting in the sun at all. I've had joint and muscle pain pretty sure from the injection, neulasta. Taking Panamax for pain. The chemo has caused sore mouth, I rinse with a mouth wash a few times a day plus suck strepsils. No ulcers so lucky there. I've had diaorrhea and a very sore tummy, gastro stop has been good for that. I am not sleeping well but I am not worried about that just sleep when I can, lucky I'm not working at the moment. I've gone bald I clippered it about 1 week into first chemo. my hair came out 14th day so shaved it off, glad I did as it was something I could control in this whole experience. I have heartburn so just some quick eze or mylanta has been good. good luck with your chemo just be prepared and I'm sure it won't be as bad as you think. Xxxx
  • Hi Donna

I did get exposed to the sun on Sunday (wore sunscreen) but after my chemo on Wednesday my skin reacted and caused a horrible sunburn type rash its sore and itchy at the same time so now its important I dont scratch it and get an infection. I have 2 creams to help but your right no sun is the ticket even tho I had sunscreen on I should of covered up completely, so silly of me.

    Lesson learn't !!!

    Thanks Di xx

  • Hi I just through I was suffering bad sunburn !!! I actually got a bit of sun last weekend and had chemo last Wednesday but my shoulders are red raw seems to be getting worse thought I must of damaged the skin so bad I am worried about it and not sure if I should see the doctor??

I had to have the injection as well as the first chemo sent my neutrophils spiralling down so maybe this is a reaction to the neulasta  injection that causes this ??

Anyone got some insight into this?

    Thinking of you Di xxx
