1st chemo
Hi everyone Wow what can I say about my first chemo.Today is the first day that I am starting to feel a bit better, I know everyone is different and their reactions are also different but this is wha...
First chemotherapy is a big learning curve. I experience constipation with each cycle of chemo due to the anti-nausea medication that is given with my chemotherapy.
Constipation can make you feel very unwell. My oncologist advised me to take regular medication for constipation in the week before each cycle.
Do you have a contact number for the chemotherapy unit? Most centres provide contact details at your chemotherapy education session. Call the chemo nurses sooner rather than later and tell them about your nausea and constipation. You don't have to put up with it. They will assess you by phone and provide advice. Might be a simple solution and if you need further assessment they will let you know.
Make sure you talk to your oncologist about these symptoms at the review before your next cycle of chemotherapy so that you can get information about how to prevent or at least manage your symptoms.
Take care.
