1st chemo done & dusted.

Well my first chemo is done, 1 down 5 to go!! The chemo treatment itself went ok & the nurses were wonderful & even got into the spirit of St Pats day by wearing green. I did develop nausea & diarrhoea later in the day/night & that was not good!! It did settle after I took some stuff for it & I felt a bit better the next day. The nausea appears to have gone away so far & I am eating small meals & drinking the required 2-3 litres of water/drink. I have had trouble sleeping but it hasn't been a restless sleep just dozing, waking, dozing, waking.

I have that lovely "fog" feeling in my head too. So I'm just taking it one day at a time & hoping for minimal side effects.

Cheers all,

Loretta xx

  • Thanks for all the tips. I did try to book in for reflexology before my chemo but was told by the therapist that it interferes with the chemo treatment but I know other ladies on here that have had it while going through chemo.

  • Hi Amanda, yes I am on the FEC at the moment. I have been feeling a little tired but not as bad as I thought I would be but it is only early days yet. I will keep you informed with my progress & good luck next week.

  • Hi Ladies,

    I had FeC, and I hated my day 3 & 4 - especially when I had to take the Steriod which kills me wrt to nausea!   From a friend's friend who had gone thru BC, she recommended Acupunture treatment.

    So I had Acupunture treatment before and after my Chemo week.  I certainly help me with the rest of my Chemo time.   I felt better faster, and sleeps better and food - well I was quite off food - cause everything was Matellic.

    Also another ladie from South Africa going thru Chemo, she uses Reflexology to help her with side effects.

    FOOD: You may already heard this,

    To avoid Matallic taste in food and water, it helps if you use:

    * Straw to drink water

    * Plastic knifes and forks & YES even plates

    5 to go, 4 to go, then ... 1 to go ... you will be celebrating !

    Oh ... you will get a fantastic week (physically) before your next Chemo, where your body feels great ..  To help with mental side of things try do book yourself to something you enjoy with a special friend the week before next chemo.  As it can really help you stay positive, as it did help me through this journy.

    Celebrate every little milestones along the way.  It is a hard & long journey ... you will get there!
