1,200 FREE Books - A journey about mastectomy & reconstruction
A few years ago now, I wrote a little book called Accepting With Grace – Mastectomy & Reconstruction, My Choice Before Breast Cancer. It covers my journey of discovering that I was at increased risk of developing breast cancer, through evaluating options & then the actual surgery & recovery.
When I was doing my research of what would be the right thing for me to do for me, I found that there was very little information available to help me choose. So I decided that I would write my book to help other women. It is real & raw, it contains graphic pics before, during & after the surgery & there is also a chapter written by my beautiful hubby Reid on the journey from his perspective – get the tissues handy for that one!!
The book is useful for women who are either like me & having the surgery preventatively or those looking at reconstruction options post breast cancer.
With getting it printed in colour so that the photos had value, we needed to get 2,000 copies printed. We have more than half of that number remaining in our garage…not helping anyone!!
The people that have read the book have given me the most wonderful feedback of how the book has truly helped them. One lady even took the book into hospital with her during her surgery & kept referencing it as she progressed through to see if I experienced the same thing. She said it gave her so much comfort to know that yes, I had & I was OK. So she would be OK, too.
Some of the testimonials have had me in tears of how much benefit it has been.
But that can’t continue to happen if the majority of the books are in our garage. My book is not living its life purpose. So, I am giving away 1,200 of the books for FREE. All we are asking is that a small postage & handling charge be paid to cover that expense.
