It is hard to believe that a year has gone by since I was first diagnosed. An awful lot has happened, some bad and some good...

On Monday I had to be at the hospital bright and early for my first mammogram and ultra sound. The best thing about having a mastectomy is I only have to have one side done!!!! The ultra sound found a bit of a complication on the left side but the nurse said she was quite sure it was benign. It is now wednesday and I haven't heard anything so I am assuming all is well. I now have to wait until August to see the oncologist for my 6 month appointment but I am not expecting any surprises there. I'm feeling pretty good at the moment...apart from aching bones and joints. I am enjoying the cooler weather with few hot flushes!!!

I hope everyone else is feeling good as well...there is light at the end of the tunnell!!!

  • Hi Lyn!  Did you get a call to follow up the mamo?  I guess you can tell me at our catch up next week?  Yes, aches and pains are a worry. I am on Vitamin D now and sure enough, it does ease the aches.  But it gives me a headache!

  • well you two have come a long way eh, and now through the other end, which is great, i am due to go for my 3 year checkup, and i don't know when it starts to get easy, i find i check myself more than ever, and am more aware of my body aches, but only really worry when its mammogram time, but we are the lucky ones, we are here to tell the story, and able to help others through our own experiences. so well done, see the positive we have all made friends through bcna, good luck and take care ladies. regards Moira
