12 month mammogram
Well blog, I just have to tell you my thoughts & feelings - they say getting it all out on paper helps, so here goes. On Monday this week I went for my 12 month mammogram. So far so good. On Tuesday ...
My cancer was hormonal - ER/PR+. Had a lumpectomy first as I had 2.5cm and 1.4cm tumours. One sentinal node always proved positive so further surgery for mastectomy of the left plus full axillary clearance. Further pathology on that tissue found yet another tumour that was less than 1cm and not picked up previously. Surgeon said I made the right call to have the mastectomy. What worries me is that this "spot on the mammogram" on the right breast could well be a tumour that was too minute to be detected before now. What baffles me is that the chemo I had should have killed all instances of cancer but we know that this is not always the case.
Yes, I know it is futile to worry but we just can't help it sometimes, especially when we are feeling down anyway. I do manage not to think too much about it most of the time - I try keeping busy so I don't have time to think....LOL
Currently trying to clear out many years of "hoarding" & tidy up in readiness of selling my house which is way too big for me now kids all left home, and I'm not able to do what I used to, to keep up with the general housework let alone the yard. Looking to downsize to a smaller, less demanding home and enjoy the rest of my life as uncomplicating as possible. I'm currently living in the Barossa Valley in South Australia.
