They did do an ultrasound on my mastectomy side,but only because I nagged about it! My surgeon hadn't requested it.The lady that did my ultrasound is very experienced,and has been doing it now for almost 30 years.She told me she also tutors different students for vascular studies,in her spare time.She actually agreed with my surgeon,and said that a physical examination is all that is needed for a checkup on the mastectomy side.She showed me that because there is pretty much only skin over ribs,and some scar tissue,that a recurrence would be easily seen and felt.She said it is not a standard thing to ultrasound the mastectomy side.I am sure that if I had not been at a private hospital,that they wouldn't have done it.However,next time,knowing what I know now,I won't hassle about it!!!Cheers xoxRobyn
