I didn't want to have memories of a horrible first experience of chemo so my gorgeous husband Alan & I went out for a romantic lunch first! It went fine actually and the best part was being able to chat to my twin-sister online in Ireland! Made the 3 hours go by quite quickly and pleasantly. Meanwhile my Alan went to Bunnings (every man's dream shop) and came back a while later to tell me he had bought a rose to plant to celebrate the first chemo done! He brought a tear to my eye when he said he would get one each time I get through the next rounds! Just lovely.....and how lucky I am! Feeling ok today...just a bit tired but didn't get much sleep probably 'cos of the dexa & anti-nausea meds...I'm gonna be like you Janey and maybe be lucky to have 4 hours or so! Anyway, feeling positive that this chemo is doing it's job and mopping up the dregs!

Hey Jen Woohooooo well done luvly. 1 down. Count down is on. How lucky are you to have such a preciious husband. What a beautiful thought to buy a rose for each chemo. That will definitely give you something to remember chemo day with a lovely thought in your mind. Well done hubby. Definitely would have won brownie points with me having had that thought. I hope you float through your chemo like the breeze. I hope you have taken on board all the advice. Check your temp regularly. First sign of it rising off to hospital just to be on the safe side. Did they talk to you about the Neulasta injection should your white cell count drop. If not it is something you can ask your medical team about. Well done Jen,and what a gorgeous husband!I am one day and one round ahead of you right?Well today,I was definitely more tired than the 2nd day of the first round.But nothing that is not easily manageable.i sat down to watch the 11oclock news on TV,when I came back from a short walk,and woke up at 1.30!!!I feel fine tonight though,and here I am sitting in bed with my ipad,wide awake!!!!I.Take care .xoxoxRobyn.

Rose plants are a great idea cos they don't hand out bravery medals in the chemo unit.Your pink sisters here are standing on the sidelines cheering you on.Treat,pamper and reward yourselves every day cos you soooo deserve it.I'm sure you are still up Robyn so am sending a hug! Oh Janey...wow! What a beautiful display of roses!!!

I am so sorry....I missed this post for a few days....so glad I've found it again........your garden looks just beautiful and I'm sure it makes you smile and feel happy when you are among it! We've got a bit of catching up to do but you're our inspiration now to have a beautiful selection of roses just like you have!

I hope all is going well for you Janey.....and that your weekend was lovely!

Day 6 after chemo and I feel pretty good.....no nausea or sick feeling...mainly a bit tired and mouth ulcers over the weekend...constipation...but it seems to be all working out ok today.....

I know what you,mean about remembering where you saw a post!We lived in Strath Creek years ago!About 14 years actually.We used to own the Strath Creek General Store.I actually live in inner west Sydney now Janey.Mostly for reasons of work ,although with everything that has happened lately,I am very thankful to be so close to RPA for my treatment.xoxoRobyn

Sorry I meant to answer you earlier but got sidetracked. Then I forgot. Thought my chemo brain had finished but it's still hanging around. I just remembered your question and miraculously where to find it. Wow that's surprising considering I don't know where to find my glasses which are usually perched on top of my head :) I actually live in Eden Park about 10 minutes past Whittlesea going out towards Wallan. When did you live in Strath Creek and where are you now? I haven't come across anyone out my way on this site. Hope you are doing well. Love Janey xxx

What a lovely warm feeling I got reading your post. Your husband sounds like a very romantic man. What a lovely thing for him to do. Just perfect.

I love roses and have many in my garden that have special meaning. Sometimes sad, sometimes joyous. You'll be able to look on yours as great achievements and milestones with love from your husband. We can endure anything when we have a wonderful partner holding our hands. With my self consciousness of my 'new' changed body, my husband keeps telling me that he loves me more than ever and that the scars are just part of my life's journey.

Keep smelling the roses as they say :)
