OMG I can't believe more than a year has gone by since my last post - and I was going to update in a few weeks! A lot happened after my last post. My youngest moved out, Christmas happened, then Covid happened, and now I'm working from home. Not long after my last post, my RA symptoms finally came under control with Abatacept (brand name is Orencia) - I have to inject myself with it once a week (a bit like giving yourself a clexane injection after surgery so it's no big deal). It took 6 months of experimenting all up to get to this point, including a few weeks of using this drug.
The bursitis in my hip & groin finally disappeared in January this year when I could finally ditch the crutch. It took 5 months, a whole lot of physio and 2 cortisone injections to finally get rid of it. I still do exercises to make sure it doesn't come back.
So it turns out that the bulged disc isn't what's giving me trouble in my back anymore - but a couple of compression fractures. After trying everything, I think the only thing that will fix it is to lose weight - wish that was easy! Hoping you're all well and survived Covid ok. I am so thankful that I went through all my treatment last year and not this year. It would've made it all so much harder to cope with.
