On her first visit to Scotland, my daughter was somewhat confused by being constantly addressed as "hen". "What is it with the fowl thing?". It's Scots for love or dearie. Technically we all speak English, but.......I came out tonight with an expression I haven't used in years - not as green as he's cabbage looking - it's the numpty influence!
