Massage

When is it ok to have a regular massage?
  • If you are at risk of lympodema it's best to avoid hard massage on the potentially affected arm, I have been advised it can aggravate or cause lymphedema.  Karen
  • And @Gerryb, with no medical experience and truly no idea I would personally say - ANYTIME!!!! woohooooooooo!!!!   ;)
  • Gerry there are actually Oncology Masseurs so I found out, I bumped into a lady I used to know years ago and she was a Nurse, turned Masseur...now an Oncology masseur. So Id say thats what Youre looking for, someone who deals with this. Hugs Melinda xo
  • Hi @Gerryb my Oncologist was happy for me to have a massage during Chemo, however I didn't find it very beneficial as they wouldn't press very hard due to low platelets. I have since gone for two since finishing and love it. You can look in the Cancer Council Wendite for people accrediated in Oncology Massage. Cheers Mel
