Christmas Cheer
I've been a bit depressed lately and haven't been motivated to do much. Some horrible tests ahead and nothing every seems to turn out right - we all know that feeling. Life seems miserable.
So I decided Christmas cheer was in order. We haven't made a big thing of Christmas in the past but now it seems like a wonderful reason to go and buy a beautiful new tree (did that yesterday) and have lots of fun with decorations and pretty things. We don't do expensive presents but I still had fun thinking about small things for my children and some Christmas frills around the house. Family things seem more important than ever.
Last night I sat and watched the lights on the tree twinkling and smiled. Small moments are important these days.
I found a web page with some lovely craft ideas for tree dangles. You might like it too.

- Sometimes it's hard to make Christmas fun for the 'big kids'. I have wrapped and taped up a pressie (lots of tape). The challenge is to unwrap it wearing a Santa hat and oven gloves. Each person gets a turn while the next person rolls a pair of die (dice?). If the predetermined number is rolled then it becomes their turn to try and get the present unwrapped. You keep going and hopefully laughing a lot till someone 'wins' the game. Just simple, inexpensive but lots of fun. :) You can wrap smaller presents to have inside each other to make the game longer if you have a crowd.
- wow I love the other Christmas trees! Its was such a good distraction for me and I loved decorating it. sending lots of hugs and Christmas cheer to everyone :)

That famous face on the tree topper is Marita (aka Queenie) who has been with BCNA for many years and some of you may know from her, well, all over. - your tree is lovely Melinda. Yes, Christmas does work its magic. Such simple things like a tree and lights can bring us so much peace and joy. (specially when put together with loved ones) Jane x
Sorry not the best pic, but this was something new and small this year my kids and I put together, tis a White Christmas Tree, and for the first time in a long time, i just sit and look at it, and feel such a peace. Melinda xo- I have enjoyed reading about the Christmas cheer. I have been feeling a bit down lately, starting back on chemo after a 2 year break was not my Chritmas wish. My children have grown up and are spending Christmas with there partners families this year but will be visiting Boxing day. So I was not going to worry about Chritmas decortions. ,but now after reading your post I definitely think I would feel better with a bit of decotations and a Christmas tree with lights. Thank you.
- I once thought only have our family of 5 only for Xmas a little depressing...love the big family things but my parents have passed and siblings moved. This year though, I just look forward to prepping special meals with each 3 boys (each chooses a course to cook ) and just the joy of being together.
- Hi ladies I'm a carer in the community and today i chatted with the girls I work with and have decided to put together a calender for a special client. We are all going to take a photo of ourselves with our animals and pu it together to give to her as a christmas gift from all her carers. I have also brought here one of those annoying toys that sings merry christmas and some flashing lights I will put up tomorrow. Christmas is a time to celebrate life
