Going Solo

Hey GinaHow are you going?  I have only just seen your post that you sent to Tania.  I am not sure where I was when you posted that I missed you. I was probably off dealing with my own stuff at that time.How did your hubby take it telling him after your Thelma and Louise Trip.  Hope that all went well.Have you had surgery or treatment yet?  How is that all going.Where are you living Gina.  Which hospital etc. will you be attending?Really just wanted to touch base with you and say hello cause you snuck in here unawares and I just wanted to say hi and welcome.Have your recieved your BCNA journey kit etc. if not you can order it online at bottom of this page along with other very informative information.  I am sure you have got on to that already but just checking.Lots of love, come back and chat soon.Mich xoxoxo

It's been a while since I last made any comment regarding your journey Tan and I hope it's all going well for you?! I finally completed my radiation treatment a week after Easter and for now I am just on hormone treatment. Experiencing some intermittent swelling and tenderness but doing my best to get on with life even undertaking the Mother's Day Classic Walk. Regarding the solo side of the travelling you have done I have pretty much gone alone to my surgeries, radiotherapy and associated appointments. Sadly, I have a mother and sister who have "run a mile" since my diagnosis, apparently this can happen. I do have a wonderful husband and two adult sons who still live at home who have been pretty good, for guys, about it all. I have never really minded going alone with it as long as I know that there are some people out there who will be there for me if I do end up needing them and that they understand that I might have a melt-down every now and again.

Have just received the news this week that I now am a member of this clan :) It's been a roller coaster of a week as I've not been able to tell my husband who is away helping his family with the shearing. So tomorrow my best buddy and I are doing the 10 hour drive (Thelma & Louise trip) to tell him the news.

I had my first visit with Sandra my clinical nurse and have come home on a high! The first all week!

this is the first blog i've read and can feel the support that is going to be so much help.

So glad to hear that you are home safe and sound and made it through the ordeal. Your experience and the support offered has really restored some faith in humanity for me. There really are some beautiful caring people still left in this world.

Let us all know how you get on at the docs next week. Can't wait to hear what the new boobies look like. I don't get my new boobies until about October. Can't wait.

All the best for the coming weeks of recovery and your entrance back into a more normal life again.

Hey Jen I am glad our posts have given you a boost.  You will be feeling very apprehensive i am sure as it is a big thing you are going to be going through so you are allowed to feel nervous.  Another one of the unknowns that we face with BC.  All the unknowns that we step in to and come through make us a much stronger person and I am sure you will do really well.

There is the search option at the top of the page where you can type in a key word and it will take you to other posts relating to what you are looking for which may also be of help to you.  Down the bottom are all the Resources available which may also relate to any information you require.  

What State are you in?  I am so glad you have a good support team behind you but you also have this BCNA pink sisters team supporting you now as well.

This is the first time I have posted I here and just wanted to say how amazing you all are. Tan, I'm glad your surgery went well and you are back home with your family and you weren't alone. I am having my mastectomy and breast reconstruction on Friday and these posts have given me such a boost. I have been so nervous even though I have my family and many friends around to support me. Happy to report that surgery went well and other than the associated bit of pain, Im doing well.

Back home with my family, in my own bed and looking forward to enjoying my life again.  Back to Perth next Thursday for a check-up with my surgeon, and get the bandages off Im hoping...Then I can get a proper look at my new boobies !!

Hi girls.  Well yes, I met 3 amazing ladies when I woke from my operation.  The love and support they gave to me was just amazing, and they will be friends for life.

Happy to report that surgery went well and other than the associated bit of pain, Im doing well.

Back home with my family, in my own bed and looking forward to enjoying my life again.  Back to Perth next Thursday for a check-up with my surgeon, and get the bandages off Im hoping...Then I can get a proper look at my new boobies !!

Just to give you an update on Tania. You know how she was worried she was going to be doing it on her own.  When she woke up after her surgery and out of recovery.  She had 3 of us lovely BCNA pink sisters to be there for her.  

She was quite perky (excuse the pun lol) in herself of which we were all surprised even herself as she has not had a good history in the past with anaesthetics.  We took her some flowers from BCNA and chatted for a while.  Her lovely precious friend Miss Kristy was going to spend the day with her today when she comes out of hospital.  She will fly home soon.

I was happy to see her looking so well at the time.  We want to wish her a speedy and uncomplicated recovery.  She is young and beautiful with a lovely family and her whole life ahead of her to enjoy.

We wish you all the very best Tania, stay in touch.  Chris and I would love to see you and/or Miss Kristy when you are in Perth next.  Look after yourself precious.
